(I began studying and researching everything I could about wedding receptions. In this pursuit I had to visit several different webpages to get the information. That is what lead me to design this site. A Website that would allow it's visiters to get everything they need in one convienent location.)
The guests had such a great time at this wedding and I had such a blast doing it, I decided to DJ more weddings and start my own company. I was currently working for a Boeing subcontractor in Seattle and just let people know that if needed I could DJ any event they held. I didn't do any advertising, it was all word of mouth. I started doing a few gigs here and there, while DJing the dances for the groups mentioned above. In October 1998, I got laid off, not from my own company. With this extra time allotted me I was able to pursue more weddings.
I got a call one day from a local tuxedo shop which had found my resume online (I forgot I put one up about a year before) and wanted me to apply for one of their shops in Seattle. It was while working there that I starting DJing a lot more. While helping people pick out the right tuxedo for their event I happen to slip in the fact that I was a DJ. I learned a lot about weddings and the formal wear dealing with formal events. While working in this tuxedo shop I met several people in charge of formal events, who got me in touch with even more event coordinators from several hotel and convention centers. I began DJing for their events and getting my name out there. I met some radio personalities who gave me advice on the topic of entertaining people through music. I was getting events from company-get-togethers to corporate holiday parties. I even got a few high school dances from meeting some of the students in charge of planning these proms, while fitting them for their tuxes. I even met several Seattle police officers and fire fighters which allowed me to begin DJing all of their banquets and parties.
My boss from the tuxedo shop frequently went to a local karaoke bar with several of her friends. On one of these visits I happened to meet the owner in charge of the entertainment. He gave me a shot at hosting these karaoke sing-alongs. I also frequented a local dance club, so with all these venues, I was DJing just about every night.
I received a good clientele base and had to do NO ADVERTISING of any kind. All of my jobs were previous client referrals.
I had family in California that needed me, so I decided to move back home. I left all of my clientele with a buddy in the feild. While in California I only DJ'ed a handful of weddings (due to a influential gentleman lobbying against any type of music at weddings, and since he was in contact with these brides and grooms before me, very few called.) With only a few jobs here and there I looked toward Los Angeles for more work. Finding several jobs there I finally got back into the swing of things.
In 2001, I visited my brother while he was living in Utah and found out that for some reason there was a huge opportunity for DJing a lot of weddings. I also began hearing rumours of my family relocating to Utah, so I started looking into moving there myself, to get a headstart on them. I moved there shortly after that visit and started DJing weddings right away. I remember my fifth week here I was double booked and DJed two events in one day.
After only six months in Utah, finding a lot of business, I decided to expand things, so here I am running one of the newest, but HOTTEST DJ companies in Utah.
